Wheezy received Long-Term-Support until 2018-05-31. Now it is archived, and no longer receives official security updates. It was superseded by Debian/Jessie on 2015-04- Yep, this is expected -- Wheezy has been EOL since April 25th, 2016 (which is when the security team stopped supporting it and the LTS team picked it up, but the LTS support even ended 31 May 2018). After I updated a Debian Wheezy server to Debian Jessie, I was having some problems with VLC. I was using the cvlc to capture and record video streams, but the capture would fail after 2 seconds. A colleague suggested that I leave the OS version alone, but downgrade VLC to confirm that the new version of VLC was causing the problem.

Feb 25, 2013 · After that 'testing' will be interchangeable with the next Debian name (dont know it yet from the top of my head) and 'wheezy' with 'stable'. I let it 'testing' because that will always be 'testing' and bring all the new stuff in (maybe after the release for a month or so i will change it to wheezy to avoid the possibly disrupting post-freeze
